Martin Luther Movie Viewing - Sat., Nov. 11 at 4pm

Though we've been on the Road to the Reformation for quite some time, there are so many movies to watch about Luther!  After learning about Luther during October, join us as we put all the pieces together and watch an action/drama of his life and the Reformation.  Light snacks provided.  Bring your own if you'd like.  Discussion to follow.

Witness for Peace

Earlier this year the Muscatine Ministerial Association (MMA) hosted a peace vigil at the Riverfront. But unfortuantely, the need for peace has not suddenly gone away.  Though we may not experience the effects of violence on a daily basis, the reality of violence is present in our communities a well.  In response, MMA will host a monthly gathering at Discovery Park Environmental Center on the second Sunday of the month at 3pm.  The intent is for this to be a safe space for all people - regardless of religion, race or background - to witness to peace and the common good.

R(est) & R(enewal) with God

This Advent at Shepherd of the Cross, we're going to be focusing on what it means to "prepare" and to "wait".  Under the theme "Prepare the Way! The King is Coming!" we'll experience what it means to prepare for Christ's coming today.  In an effort to provide a quiet space away from the hustle and bustle of the season, we'll gather on Sunday evenings - beginning Sun., Nov. 26 - for a light meal at 5:30pm, followed by a time of prayer, Scripture an discussion at 6pm.  Each Sunday, we'll meet in hopes that we can A) carve out some time to just "be" with God, B) become more comfortable with various practices of prayer, C) grow in our spirituality and relationship with God, and D) prepare the way for the King to come into our hearts, our minds, and our bodies.
