Isaiah 43:1-7; Luke 1:26-38 | This weekend we begin the season of Advent, preparing for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we wait, we hear the story of the angel Gabriel appearing to Mary, calling her blessed. To be called “blessed” may seem to be something reserved just for “special” people like Mary. But, since the beginning, God has created us and formed us to be a blessing because we belong to God. And as such, we – like Mary – are called forth to bear God’s Word into the world. So, as we begin this holy season, join us as we enfold ourselves once again in God’s promises for us, and as we live into our purpose to be God’s blessing to all the world.
